Terminology
Data in the current context may be understood to mean information which can be processed, including automated and manual data.
Personal Data may be defined as information relating to a living person who can be identified from the data.
Data Controller may be defined as a person who determines the manner in which and the purposes for which personal data is processed. The management of Avanti Language Institute are assigned the role of Data Controller.
Data Processor may be defined as a person who processes personal data on behalf of the Data Controller. A member of staff at Avanti Language Institute is assigned the role of Data Processor. The assigned Data Processor processes the personal data of clients only on instructions from the Controller.

Avanti Language Institute, in dealing with Personal Data, ensure that Personal Data shall be:
— Processed lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner in relation to the data subject (‘lawfulness, fairness and transparency’)
— Collected for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes and not further processed in a manner that is incompatible with those purposes (‘purpose limitation’)

— Accurate and where necessary kept up to date; every reasonable step will be taken to ensure that personal data that are inaccurate, having regard to the purposes for which they are processed, are erased or rectified without delay (accuracy)
— Kept in a form which permits identification of data subjects for no longer than is necessary for the purposes for which the personal data are processed (‘storage limitation’)
— Processed in a manner that ensures appropriate security of the personal data, including protection against unauthorised or unlawful processing and against accidental loss, destruction or damage, using appropriate technical or organisational measures (‘integrity and confidentiality’)

Avanti Language Institute is a language school which is based at 1A South Main Streeet, Naas, Co. Kildare. This Privacy Policy notice is primarily intended for and directed to those people who are availing of or who may wish to avail of our services in terms of academic studies and also for those who either are providing or would like to provide services as a Host Family. What we do
We at Avanti Language Institute respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy statement outlines how we at Avanti Language Institute collect, transfer, process, use and disclose your data and how we protect your personal information.
Our Policy
It is the policy of Avanti Language Institute to restrict the amount of data or information to the minimum which is required to complete the relationship or contract between Avanti Language Institute and the the student, family or the agent.
Please note the following:
— We actively shred documents to prevent unauthorised persons or organisations from having access to to any of our clients’ personal information.
— We actively close files and shut down the Computer screen, when the school/office is closed, so as to further prevent unauthorised individuals or corporations from viewing anything of a personal nature in regard to our clients.
— As mentioned before in this document, all data is collected lawfully using either application forms or contracts.
— All data, collected by Avanti language Institute, is processed only for the purpose it is collected.
— All data, collected by our school is filed and stored safely and securely and access to such in information is limited to the management of Avanti Language Institute.
— All data is held at the school either electronically or on paper.
— At no time or in any circumstance is any personal data or information used for marketing purposes beyond the courses and programmes of our own school or otherwise for direct marketing.
— We are committed to informing and training our staff regularly on key matters relating to our data protection policies.
— All electronic data on Avanti Language Institute’s servers are protected from interference from outside.
— All desktops and laptops on our networks are firewalled for security reasons.
— We are the sole owners of the the information collected on our website. We only have information, given to us, voluntarily by you.
How long do we keep your Personal Data?
Every individual has the right to withdraw their consent and have their personal information erased at any time; this is is known as your ‘right to disappear’ or ‘right to be erased’.
In terms of Students, all student files are shredded one year after the student has graduated (in other words after each student’s enrolment period).
Regarding employees, all paper and online files will be held until the relevant person has ceased to be employed by Avanti Language Institute.
Files on Host families will be kept for the full period that the Host Family is hosting students for Avanti language Institute.
With regard to Agents, we will keep Data for the period of time that the Agents’ are working with Avanti Language Institute.
What are your Rights?
You have the right to request a copy of the information that we hold about you; this is consistent with Section 86 of the Data Protection Act 2018. This is known as ‘Right of Access’.
You have the right to correct Data that we hold about you you which is inaccurate or incomplete; this is in keeping with Section 87 and Section 89 of the Data Protection Act 2018. This is known as ‘Right of Rectification’.
You have the right, in certain circumstances, to request that the data we hold about you be erased. This is known as the ‘Right to Disappear’ or ‘Right to be Erased’.
You have the right, to object to certain types of processing such as direct marketing.
You have the right to Data Portability.
Why we use cookies
